Hazard2012 5pts The Jets could well be among the most improved offenses by the end of the off-season, but they haven't done nearly enough to earn such praise as of now. Let's be honest...it would be hard NOT to improve an O that's been this bad for so long...and adding Decker is just one step in the right direction. But we're still two top (and diverse) receivers, a #1 TE and a 3rd down WCO back short of a full arsenal, so Idzik's got plenty more work yet to do. jetlife814 5pts and people crying about john idzix not spending money he gotta keep mo and company together mo is on a contract year jetlife814 5pts there are some guys in the draft that can take this team to a few more wins jetlife814 5pts and im not worry about the pats because there not going to throw it agains revis there going to run it all day jetlife814 5pts thats some good speed in the backfield jetlife814 5pts vick is going to have a big year for us belive it or now mke vick runs a 4.3 cj 4.2 c.i 4.4 jetlife814 5pts if the jets make this move for cj and a good draft i see them going 11-5 hands down kniff 5pts Fun fact; We get Vick, Breno, and Patterson, for the same 12M that the Pats got Revis for. jetlife814 5pts the jets are going to get cj2k @jake100 the reason i say so is because chris ivory runs hard and he is going to get hurt they need cj2k to change the pace and be that speed demon there missing yankspride 5pts Why the debate on which position the Jets should go in first round, second round?? Just pick the best player available and it fills a need at the same time. This draft class has been said to be the best in the past 20 years. If the Jets feel the same, then moving down and landing more picks within rounds 2 - 4 is the best course of action. Round 1...pick up WR or CB.....either or. Dublin Watchhowimove 5pts Breaking news: the jets are moving Stephen hill to TE WW85 5pts The Mike Williams trade seems slightly positive for the Jets. Buff may be less inclined to go WR with their pick. The Bucs were always going WR anyway. Probably changes nothing. boomer 5pts Geno Smith as a capable backup. Hmmm. bradysucks 5pts Chris Johnson didn't even average 4 yards a carry last year......Don't get me wrong - I'd take him since Goodson could be on his way to SING SING.....but acting like he's the guy he once was (not convinced)As for the Jets being better on offense.....(SHOW US).....don't tell us.....Back it up!Round 1 Brandin CooksRound 2 Allen RobinsonDraft those 2 guys in the first 2 rounds and we are better on offense in a BIG way dabronx 5pts @jake100 Their receiving corp is suspect. nickballs 5pts @jake100 put your Pats jersey on...u hack metsjetsdu 5pts @jake100 I personally don't think their offense is that scary anymore. levi 5pts @jake100 Brady is slipping with age and his weakness has always been he gets shaky under pressure. The Pats are loaded and usually are but the Giants proved get to Brady and you beat the Pats. Hopefully Mo and Co. can get to him early and often. yankspride 5pts @jetlife814 I know some Bills and Miami fans. We are in agreement.............beat the patsies......then every team for themselves. Bent moderator 5pts @jake100 21st in pass blocking, 31st in run blocking.Colon's overall grade was -1.1. He was 4th in pass blocking but 59th (of 81) in run blocking. Everyone underrates Colon. I know some people wanted Schwartz or Asamoah, but I think see Colon as better than both, although I recognize that he's more of a stop-gap than they would be. Still if they can find a starter in the draft, this is the perfect situation.Mangold's overall grade was -0.2. He was 3rd in pass blocking but 31st (of 35) in run blocking.Over the last five games, Mangold was back to his best, +11.4 overall. For context, the top center had a +18.9 grade for the whole season. It's pretty evident Winters' struggles sunk the run blocking grades across the board. kniff 5pts @jake100 I'm not ready to give up on Simms at all, but to reiterate our agreed point we do REALLY need to draft a young O line beast and keep an eye out for camp cut opportunities!! WW85 5pts No way we go WR. WR. WR. CB. TE. Olb gusto 5pts So our best cornerback last year was Kyle Wilson, but he's not even a top 70 corner. This is analysis Bent agrees with. It would be a shame if we don't address corner with one of our first two picks, because cornerback is clearly one of our two weakest position groups. I'd argue it's the weakest. The offense, with improved quarterbacking almost guaranteed and Eric Decker, will be at least 10 places better IMO.Double dipping on offense in the first two rounds isn't the homerun hit people are making it out to be. Corner back is one of the 4 most important positions in football, and being bad at that position is the 2nd fastest way to lose football games (we saw that very clearly against Cincinnati this year). That's a position group we have to address early this year. If that means we don't get the WR and TE everyone is expecting? Too bad. Corner is more important than tight end or the WR#2. BDarc23 5pts @bradysucksIf they draft 2 WRs one will sit with Kerley and Decker already locked. The 2nd rookies will also give at least some plays to Nelson and Hill (whether you hate Hill or not). If it's a second receiver I am hoping for a starting TE. Bent moderator 5pts @a57se @jetlife814 He said "mo and company".I think Coples, Mo and Richardson will cost well over $30 million per year to keep all three if they all continue to play like they have so far. jetlife814 5pts @a57se @jetlife814 i think there waiting to see what jj watt going to get before they pay him jetlife814 5pts @yankspride @jetlife814 the pats are sooo overated its sad Brendan 5pts @jake100 Fitting. The guy who cries about the unlimited holes on the team also bashes the team for how they go about filling those holes intelligently and responsibly. kniff 5pts @jake100 @kniff Well I hear ya Joey, I would have rather locked down Geoff Schwartz for the equivalent of 4M per year, than get Vick at 5M....A killer Guard, and 1M still in the coffers.......sigh metsjetsdu 5pts @jake100 only terrible because teams stacked the box like crazy the past few years, especially the last 2 years with the Titans basically having no other offensive threats. I get the statistical delcine but I can see him very very productive when he is not numero uno for an offense anymore. jetlife814 5pts @jake100 cj can be in on first and second then u put in c.i on short yardage Dublin Watchhowimove 5pts Dont u think they should move him there jmactheman 5pts @kniff @jake100 What about the two guys Idzik carried all season? We drafted three linemen. Winters, Aboushi, and there was a third one. Winters obviously made it into the lineup, but the other two were active for all 16 games, but never took the field so as to not expose them to waivers. (If we had demoted them to the practice squad, they would have needed to clear waivers.)If Aboushi and the other one were good enough to merit not exposing them to waivers last year, maybe one of them will be your young O-line beast. harold 5pts @gusto He also acknowledged that Milliner was the #1 CB in the NFL in pass defensed in the 2nd half of the season. He is ranked there because he struggled early which was no surprise due to all the time he missed with injury. Anyway getting rid of Cro is a big help to the pass defense he was worst than Milliner all things considered. bradysucks 5pts Cooks is better than Kerley and Robinson is better than Hill Kirk Michael 5pts @Bent @a57se @jetlife814 Plus we need speed 4.6? how bout ODB n hell produce from day one. Love him in then redzone n how bout go wr to rounds in a row we have a physical possession wr n home run threat. Benjamin is basically what these tight ends are now. Kirk Michael 5pts @Bent @a57se @jetlife814 I thought i liked Kelvin Benjamin over any other wr other then the top 2 to but where have we heard 6'5 n drops passes n this guys faster n hes on our roster. How bout we work on him considering he was a project. Kirk Michael 5pts @Bent @a57se @jetlife814 Lets just get ready for the draft use our picks to get the exact players we need. Save money by not signing Johnson. My opinion ODB n trade back down to get Amaro n from there in idzik I trust. Kirk Michael 5pts @Bent @a57se @jetlife814 Harrison Hazard2012 5pts @Bent @a57se @jetlife814 It's got to be somewhere in that neighborhood. This may be driving Idzik's reluctance to spend a lot of $$$ on FA's this year. A unit this good should be kept together, if possible. Two things threaten that...being unable to pay them enough to stay and being so unsuccessful as a franchise that they won't want to. yankspride 5pts @jetlife814 While I'm not adverse to trash talkin when trolling patsies fans go to threads like the NYPOST and NYDN to beat down on the Jets (that was your attempt at talkin trash...right??).........the current patsies may be overrated when compared to the top 5 teams in NFL, but they are not overrated in a weak AFC East. Overrated??.........not till they are dethroned........and better if the Jets can be the ones to do it. nickballs 5pts @jake100 @kniff nothing worse than reading joeygirls nonsense day after day harold 5pts @kniff @jake100 We actually got Vick for 4 million per year., Patterson for 2.687 million, Breno for 4.4 million and Colon for 2 million so for 13.187 million (against cap only 11.4 approx.). So we did pretty well. Schwartz is not a better tackle than Breno (if you sign Schwartz as a guard you still need a tackle) and you would still have to pay a quality backup similar money to Vick. levi 5pts @Antuan Dexter John No, he's not physical enough. Brad Jerris 5pts @gusto Those top CB's are all overrated, none of them will be studs! The most important number combine wise in terms of correlation for success in the NFL is the 3 cone drill. Dennard, Gilbert, Fuller were all average with 6.9-7.07. Over the last few years, top CB's dominated this drill- Revis 6.56, Peterson, 6.58, Sherman 6.82/6.72 combine/proday- sherman a lot bigger than revis and peterson. Millner last year was considered a cant miss CB prospect- you know what his 3 cone drill was?- a 6.95- average # and he looked below average most of the year as a Jet. Do you know who was rated as one of the best rookie CB last year? Desmond Trufant, and guess what his 3 cone drill was- 6.67.Phillip Gaines from Rice has my attention with his combine numbers- 40 yard dash of 4.38 and 3 cone drill of 6.62. Stanley Jean- Baptist had a proday 3 cone drill of 6.69 and he is 6'3". Bradley Roby put up 6.74 at his proday. Terance Mitchell 6.57 3 cone drill at the combine. Other guys with decent 3 cone drills for their size were Desir, Dontae Johnson and McGill- big corners in the mold of the Seahawks guys in Sherman and Thurmond. All these guys I listed above intrigue me, with the right coaching they all should be pretty good. Most of these guys are considered to be picked in rounds 2-4.Give me 2 of the above guys in rounds 2-4 over a 1st rd pick of Gilbert/Dennard. gusto 5pts Ha! I forgot about Harvin. He really wasn't even a top 3 receiver in Seattle last season, though. All I want is for the Jets to properly evaluate the depth of each position in the draft. Wide receiver is about 2-3 times deeper than corner IMO, so taking a corner before you take a receiver wouldn't be a bad strategy. However, if the Jets do have a receiver rated ahead of a corner and both are on the board, then of course they should take the receiver. The only way I'd really be upset is if the Jets take an interior lineman at 18 or 50. levi 5pts @gusto Nit picking here but Percy Harvin was drafted 22 in the first round. gusto 5pts The point stands that it would be foolish to ignore the position in favor of double dipping at wide receiver/receiving tight end when we just signed Eric Decker and we are a run oriented offense. Three of the last four Super Bowl winning teams did not have a first rounder at receiver (Baltimore, Green Bay, Seattle), and three of the last four Super Bowl winning teams were committed to running the football (NYG, Seattle, Baltimore). We need to address both corner and receiver, and IMO this isn't a draft where you can get a great corner too late. The receiver class is 4 rounds deep. If you don't get one of Watkins, Evans, Lee, Cooks, or Beckham, you can get Benjamin, Robinson (my favorite player at receiver this year), Moncrief, Matthews, etc. but after Dennard, Fuller, and Gilbert, the talent starts to wane significantly. I'd be a lot happier with Dennard/Fuller in round 1 and Robinson in round 2 than I'd be with Lee/Cooks/Beckham in round 1 and a 2nd round corner. bradysucks 5pts I didn't realize you would cry about getting better at WR BDarc23 5pts @bradysucks. I didn't realize that scouting/drafting WRs is such a sure thing, my bad there. Cooks and Robinson will both play and Kerley, Nelson and Hill will get a play here and there if the rookies get hurt or something.
