8:47 am: The team at has been saying for weeks that the team planned to announce a set of new jerseys this week. Today, MP’s Shannon Shark says, “We are still expecting an away-alt, with silver lettering (uniform). Similar to 2011 Los Mets. Potentially I will be updating this post in minutes.  Still unclear to me is if the roads will say Mets or N E W Y O R K.”

Last month, Shark said the Mets will feature six different uniforms next season, all with an All Star Game patch on the sleeve.

Chris Creamer from, which has broken several uniform-related stories over the last year or so, later added that the Mets will feature a blue road uniform with silver and orange lettering and New York on the chest, which Shark again referenced in his post this morning.

According to Creamer, next year’s uniforms will also again feature the pinstripe cream and plain whites at home and the same road grays from 2012, as well as a blue jersey at home with orange lettering (pictured in this post). The team will also bring back a black jersey, which Shannon speculates could be a way to honor Mike Piazza, who is finally eligible for the baseball Hall of Fame this summer.

Update, 10:15 am: Here is a picture of the new road blue jersey for 2013, which will be available at the team store along with a free All-Star Game hat at Citi Field later today:
