Parnell pitched yesterday, Valverde OK not being closer

Bobby Parnell experienced no issues after throwing his second modified bullpen session on Monday, tossing 15 pitches off the mound with his catcher in front of plate (Newsday, Feb. 17).

Parnell, who had herniated disc surgery last summer, threw 10 pitches from a mound on Friday.

Speaking of Parnell, reliever Jose Valverde says he understands Parnell is the team’s closer.

“I’m here because I want to support the team,” Valverde said Sunday (New York Post, Feb. 16). “If one of the other guys is the closer, that’s fine with me. I want to do my job and support the team.”

Valverde has 286 career saves spanning 11 years with the D-Backs, Astros and Tigers.

If the Mets can manage an overall team ERA in the 1.89 range, they might stand a chance at winning 80 games.

at this time he had hardly any other choice with anybody . Nobody wanted him as a closer. he is a emergency closer.

I'm assuming that the picture of Parnell is one taken last spring?  Please don't tell me that Aaron Laffey is back in camp this year.

@1harris1  Metsblog is pulling a Fox "News".  Using old photos and selling them as new.
