Opinion: Johan Santana and Truth Serum

In a post to ESPN New York, Ian O’Conner writes:

“I asked Santana if he regretted doing business with the Mets… Had his water been spiked with truth serum, his answer would’ve sounded like this: What do you think?… Yes, Santana has to be wondering what in the world he’s gotten himself into… That voice in the back of his head is growing louder, moving to the front, telling him he should’ve put his money on a different horse.”

…un… be… lievable… this is a joke, right… or, is o’conner actually basing an entire post – for ESPN no less – on what he ASSUMES santana would say when under truth serum… truth serum… are you kidding me… is this fact or fiction… if it’s fiction, ESPN should have drawn an accompanying cartoon to go with it… maybe johan riding a unicorn… that’s be cool…

…who knows, maybe under truth serum johan would say, ‘I like turtles,’ or, maybe he’d ask ian how he combs his hair like that… or, maybe he’d profess his love for the Mets or, more likely he’d say he’s a professional, and that’s none of our business… or, maybe ian’s right, maybe johan has regrets… but, that’s the thing, who knows… it drives me crazy when people base opinion on guessing about other people’s motives… it’s so unfair, because there is no way to ever know someone’s true feelings… nobody knows what johan is really thinking… he may feel one way, but say something else to protect his family, or his team, or his career… i mean, his wife might not even know the truth… yet, some how, this guy knows the innerworking of johan’s mind… and if he doesn’t for fact know what’s in johan’s brain, and this is fiction, ESPN should label it as such…
