NYP: Bartoszek and Lanza in talks to buy 49% of Mets

According to the New York Post, citing ‘sources,’ the Mets have been in ‘advanced talks’ since last week with Ray Bartoszek and Anthony Lanza, who are interested in buying a 49 percent stake in the team for $200 million.

“The talks could be wrapped up and announced before the end of the month,” according to the report.

Last month, the New York Post said, ‘Controversial hedge-fund titan’ Steve Cohen is the frontrunner to buy a minority stake in the Mets,’ however they later reported talks had ‘cooled.’

Bartoszek, 46, and Lanza, 44, are reportedly lifelong Mets fans and former commodity traders from Glencore International, “a Swiss-based company, which is one of the world’s largest suppliers of commodities and raw materials.”
