NYP: Bartoszek and Lanza in talks to buy 49% of Mets

According to the New York Post, citing ‘sources,’ the Mets have been in ‘advanced talks’ since last week with Ray Bartoszek and Anthony Lanza, who are interested in buying a 49 percent stake in the team for $200 million.

“The talks could be wrapped up and announced before the end of the month,” according to the report.

Last month, the New York Post said, ‘Controversial hedge-fund titan’ Steve Cohen is the frontrunner to buy a minority stake in the Mets,’ however they later reported talks had ‘cooled.’

Bartoszek, 46, and Lanza, 44, are reportedly lifelong Mets fans and former commodity traders from Glencore International, “a Swiss-based company, which is one of the world’s largest suppliers of commodities and raw materials.”

Rex looks broken. I never seen him this distraught. It looks like he had his heart ripped out.

This season has been an utter disaster! Obviously Gene is not the answer, since he cant even recognize a blitz & audible out of plays certain to fail from the beginning! If they are tanking the rest of this season on purpose it might be the best thing they have done. Rex isn't a horrible coach but I dont think he can out coach the better ones in the league. If he goes on to win a super bowl with another team that team will have to be veteran driven & on the verge of winning it all as far as talent goes. Im still on the fence on what to do with Idzik. I am leaning on the firing side & just cleaning house all over again especially because of the fact that we need a franchise qb & I dont trust that Idzik can make the right choice, especially with the rumors that he wanted to take Geno with the first round pick! There has to be better days for is Jet fans! Atleast I hope so

An aside...but important question at this point...who owns the tie-breakers between the Jets/Jags and Bucs @ 2-10?

Almost no first or second down passing just a poor representation of football.  I have not potsed in 4 weeks because the play calling and on field football product has not been professional level.

I may not post again this season, but had to post tonight about losing this game because we refused to run a pro offense.  Ryan needs to be fired not now, but right now.

Clean sweep, in the off-season.  It should start with Woody but, that won't happen so, we will just have to hope for a good GM/Coach combo.

The coaching staff obviously don't trust Geno. I think Idzik is forcing them to play Geno.

Rex and Idzik should be used to destroy a team for a total rebuild. They should both go to the Jags after they finish destroying the Jets, OY

Rushing for 230 is good but, if you don't know what to do in the red zone, it means nothing.  We always leave points on the field.  Whether it is stupid penalties or bad play calling or bad QB'ing -- it all comes down to coaching.

  Rex just cant stop up all the leaks idzik left him with.

we are the only team that looks like we are playing for a field goal when we get to the redzone!!

I can't believe Miami found a QB before NY.

I hate when Rex and Marty call the game like they have a shut down defense!!!! we gotta put points up!!! our secondary can break at any minute!!! when you get to the redzone you just have to let Geno throw!!!

is there a website to watch SNY post game?

It's impossible to run a pro-style offense without a pro-caliber QB.

Geno Smith is the QB version of Stephen Hill

@88keyz Rex let the offense go to hell for years, he is also culpable!

Less than 50% completion & people want Geno to throw more LOLOLOLOLOL

@Jason Krull

If you throw a pick with 34 seconds against 13 passes it will skew that stat.  Please don't post it when it has almost no merit.

@88keyz What from Genos performance gave you any inkling that he is capable of making any type of play like that??

@hitchhiker

Just a unsupported statement.  How was Geno against the Raiders, Packers, Broncos and Pats.  He was NFL quality.  So please let's not act as though he has been terrible every game because he has not.

He has shown he can play at a respectable level to not even trust him to do that when  you are 2-9 is just a waste of everyone's time.

@hitchhiker

He actually was 7-13 fwiw.

When you only throw 2 passes a quarter before the last drive you are not going to be great too often.  Not defending Geno who I thought needed to be benched after is performance against the Bills.

But this lost has nothing to with Geno's on the field performance tonight.

@harold @Jason Krull

He threw a pick to end the game when all he needed was a FG to tie.

How does that play have no merit?

Wolf
Wolf

@williamg1 @gts41 And Rex proceeded to run it 60 times.

This organization is dysfunctional and that's being kind.

Not tonight. I think they post it in SNY a day or two afterward

@UncleJoe @88keyz

Exactly, and his repeated failures...over six years...to focus on the offense and to make in-game adjustments, etc. continue to prove he's simply not HC material.
