According to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, Triple-A pitching coach Ricky Bones has recommended to Dan Warthen the Mets either call on Bobby Parnell or Manny Acosta, in the event they need another relief pitcher.
The 25–year-old Parnell is 0–1 with a 4.15 ERA in 18 relief appearances this season in Triple-A.
…i haven’t seen parnell this season, obviously… but, the key for him is commanding that second pitch… i would love to see him develop a splitter, like Mike Pelfrey has done, as i think it would go quite well with his style fastball…
Acosta allowed four runs and eight hits in 12 innings for the Mets earlier this season.
