Noah Syndergaard

Noah Syndergaard’s MRI is clean

May 27, 5:10 pm: Mets RHP prospect Noah Syndergaard’s MRI returned negative, with team doctors suggesting he simply do more shoulder stretching exercises (Carig, May 27).

“He’s essentially fine,” GM Sandy Alderson said.

May 26, 12:15 pm: Syndergaard was put on the disabled list Sunday with mild flexor-pronator strain, the team told reporters.

He traveled to New York to be examined by team doctors.

Syndergaard is 5-2 with a 4.02 ERA in 10 starts with Triple-A this season. He was expected to be promoted to the Mets at some point in mid- to late-June.

Will ANYONE be surprised if Syndergaard needs Tommy John surgery THIS year after hearing that he's been diagnosed as being healthy? I don't know if it's the team or the medical staff but I've heard this kind of thing 100 times only to have the same injury come back a few weeks/months later. I take NO relief in this news right now.

And with the 10 th pick in the 2014 amateur draft the NY Mets take Todd Van Poppel jr!

Well you monitor that guy mets organization because if he's damaged that's a setback people don't need.

Team still needs an OF, 1B, SS and a new OWNER and GM.

Boycott the mets?? We already are.. we only go when people throw tickets at us or if we are in the mood for shake shack.

I don't trust it at all. To me with this team this is worse news as it just means his eventual TJ surgery will be delayed

The bad news - Collins and Alderson are still here!

Best news of the entire weekend.

The tests were run at HSS, which means he'll need TJ surgery within a year.

The answer to ending the injuries is proper before and after warmup and stretching routines. Each individual player is different in the way they should be handled, and the secret hasn't been found yet. Its about researching the ailment at all angles. That is why they shut him down. The forearm issue is a precursor to disaster, so change the routine to help strengthen and create proper flexibility to keep the elbow safe in the case of Noah. It isn't a blanket treatment.

Best news was that the batting coach was fired, how dare him say anything negative about the announcers

That's good. I hate dirty MRIs.

Phew!  I know that it's overprotective, but I'd send him to Jame Andrews in Pensacola for a second opinion to be sure.  I wouldn't trust those clowns at the Hospital for Special Surgery to neuter a greyhound.

Give the mets till the end of the season to blow the kids arm out

Oh boy...we know how this works, the better the news today the worse the news tomorrow.

Today: "Everything is fine!"

Tomorrow: "It pains us to say Noah Syndergaard has passed away from complications with his elbow."

Thank god. Thats all we needed was to have him get hurt with any sort of injury.

Does anyone actually believe this? Why do I get the feeling that in the not too distant future, the following press release will be issued: "...despite following standard medical protocol which prescribed rest and treatment, Noah's arm was not responding and now that the swelling has subsided, the decision to have a second MRI was made and it has now been discovered that the damage is greater than initially thought. Noah will be consulting with Dr. James Andrews..."

What does his shoulder have to do with his elbow?  Something doesn't make sense.  He is on his way to TJ surgery.

This is very good news. He needs to stay in Vegas thru July and possibly August.  Having a little higher ERA in the Vegas launching ground is not of concern. Having Thor up with Wheeler, Montero, deGrom, Niese and Gee (with Matt Harvey back for next year ) we have a very valuable commodity for trades. If you add in Darin Gorski, Stephen Matz we have one area of strength. Now a left fielder, shortstop and first baseman we have a complete team.

@Kyle Ely Yawn.  What right do we as fans have to do that?  They're making payroll and fielding a team.  We can be mad or disappointed all we want, we dont have a right to force them to sell.

Yeah, that was weak. Let's call out one of the great contact hitters of all time. Super weak.

@flmetsfan  That means amputate his leg right?  That's what they told me there.

First of all you should be happy the mri is clean. Second how does that mean there will be further complications? When niese got an mri in spring they said he would be fine and he was.. Niese needed rest and stretching and i think noah will be just fine after doing the same

Frank Tangorra

Stretching out your shoulder puts less strain on your elbow. Proper stretching and good mechanics makes a successful career.

Rich Anderson

@bockers how about the statue in RF yesterday in the 8th inning??? - any major league RF'er grabs that- the non play yesterday reminded me of coaching Little League where the RF'er was the worst player and would never aggressively go after the ball.  TC doesn't get that? wanted to get Abreu another AB??? really???? even if he walked, who would drive him in- you had a 2 run lead - play the odds moron!

Thor will be in the majors sooner than you think. Expect Niese, Gee or Colon to be packaged in a deal.

@Chad Snaider And don't forget all the bridge jumpers also already penciled in Neises appt with Dr.  James Andrews when the word first came down in ST.

I think colon and either gee or niese i think we may keep one of them

Albert E Lewis

@Chris Molloy @Jerry Colfer Who would want Colon? 5.34 ERA 71 hits given up in 57 innings?..Might be a contestant in a all you can eat hot dog eating contest.Hate to say it but I see Gee in a package somewhere.

Chris Molloy
Chris Molloy

@Jerry Colfer  It will be extremely tough to trade Colon to a contender unless he gets on e real hot streak. Remember he has 2 year deal not one

Jerry Colfer
Jerry Colfer

@Chad Snaider Colon could easily go to a contender for talent. I just looked around and didn't see a lot of fits for our needs without going big. Maybe the Royals SS, Cuddyer and Tulo (major stretch). If payroll is not an issue (as SA is saying) then taking on a big contract.
