Jon Niese still has swelling and tightness in his leg, but continues to say he will make his next start, according to Mike Kerwick of the Bergen Record.
Niese may push back his post-start cardio and side sessions to help his recovery, Kerwick reports.
Niese left last night’s game against the Dodgers after getting hit on the right leg by a come backer by Mark Ellis in the top of the third inning. X-rays taken on Niese’s leg were negative. He is listed as day-to-day.
Terry Collins later said he expects Niese to make his next start, though he will continue to reserve judgment until he sees his pitcher back on a mound.
