Daniel Murphy left last night’s game in Buffalo with an apparent knee injury.
According to Buffalo News, Murphy was carried off the field after getting knocked down at second base while attempting to turn a double play.
“I don’t think it’s real good,” manager Ken Oberkfell told Harrington. “It was a roll slide, but it was one of those things where he kind of watched the throw rather than getting out of the way. It sucks. It’s tough, but it’s part of the game. He was pretty sore and he was mad too – mad at himself… for not getting out of the way.”
… it’s amazing… murphy is the Mets starting first baseman this season if he never pops a ligament in his knee jogging home during a spring training game… now, he’s back hurt again, because he’s playing second base, a postion he never would have been playing in the first place had he not hurt himself in March… awful…
Josh Thole also left the game after being hit in the helmet on a backswing.
