To all the Knicks fans in denial because of Phil's Zennines. You're right. You had no shot at signing LA, especially when your front office turned him down due to a ridiculous demand.

I'd like a list of the sudden impact stars that were Drafted AFTER Porzingis!!...?? The premise that Porzingis was drafted as a project, ahead of instant stars, is total Bog Wash!!!!

He wasn't coming to the Knicks anyhow.  More nonsense by the Daily Snooze.

Anybody who believes that Porzinges cost us Aldridge is a fool.

Everyone is forgetting one key fact. The draft comes before free agency. So Porzingis was on the team before Aldridge. What you should be saying is Aldridge didn't want to bang with centers. We need players with heart. It's better that it worked out this way. Aldridge eating up cap then getting angry when we need him to play the 5? Really? Prima Dona. I'll pass

Really don't think he would have come to NY anyway, but this is hard to read.

What do you Knick fans think about an Islanders new third jersey?

Aldridge is in San Antonio.  Texas has no income tax and Spurs are pretty good. There was no one else.  Looking for the new twist here that means anything.  No one is a lock in the draft.  Upside is the key...Porzingis has it ....at worst, no more than anyone else, at best...more than anyone else.  Think it worked out.   BTW..."perfect for the Knicks"?  Not sure.

Everybody acts as if Knicks did not draft Porzingis, Aldridge would sign 100% with Knicks. I think once Spurs called and offered max, there he was.

when i keep on hearing how great porzings is going to be i keep asking one question how many latavian players have ever played in the nba? answer=the middle of a donut. i rest my case on porgings. the point is i don't care if we never had a chance at alldrige there were so many better picks than who we took.

@j_spikett

your argument is old. wait to the season plays out before crying about the pick again. I have questions about Zingis but I'm willing to wait until the season plays out before I judge. judging by how many people from his country is playing in the NBA is dumb. It only takes one player to blow that argument up. We get it, you don't like Zingis. you said it a thousand times.

@j_spikett When you are proven wrong about him, will you shut up? Here's the bet: If Porzingas turns into an above average NBA player, you will never discuss your player evaluations about anyone again, because you will be proven clueless. If it's proven he can't play, then I will never do the same. Deal?

On a side note: It absolutely amazes me that you would think this team would be so much better off with Frank Kaminski.

theres so many things i disagree with in this article i dunno where to begin.

simple...We already have a jump shooter at the forward position that doesn't D up in Melo..no need for LA.

Monroe was the only guy we had a chance at that made sense and he went to a better team.

I think it's pretty darn comical that the day after Carmelo Anthony shoots down the rumors about being upset with the Knicks offseason, the Daily News runs another conspiracy theory.

Folks, the Daily News has a beef with the Knicks over media policy - so they spread rumors to stir the pot. You can't believe a word they print.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!! you lose aldridge to draft a PROJECT like that. how many latavian ballplayers have played in the nba? answer is the middle of the donut. what was p jack thinking to GAMBLE so mightily on such a high pick when you DONT have a pick next year. and as he proved in the summer league this guy has ZERO inside game. and he only made one three pointer. did p jack realize that the euro three pointer is a lot closer? did p jack ever take in a euro game in person or was he too busy in cohoots with missie buss? the guy he just gambled the future on this team is another manute bol shawn bradley. a role player who will NEVER be able to dominate the inside and will be pushed around ;like a pogo stick. and this 20 year old is not going to grown into a power big like some thing he will magically transform because he doesn't have the FRAME. he has very narrow shoulders and super long legs NOT the type of body that is going to put on a lot of weight except in the midsection. no wonder stephan A was angry about this pick. this was a major major mistake.

@j_spikett

We did not lose Aldridge by drafting Porzingis. Aldrigde merely said he was intrigued and would have talked to the Knicks if not for the presence of Porzingis. But be realistic. Do you really think that at the end of the day Aldridge was going to choose the Knicks over the Spurs?

j_spikett
j_spikett

@Cover Me Impressed @j_spikettapparently he WAS interested. we don't have the inside scoop but the players would since they talk all the time and I'm sure word got back to p jack. but he fell in love with this toy who irrespective of aldridge was a crazy and reckless gamble.

Ahh suck it up! We got a squad still!!! This front court will be a top 5 front court with out Aldridge. Bank on it !

@Joshua Anselmo

No offense, but outside of Melo, your front line is fairly pedestrian.

The Spurs, Clippers, Thunder, Grizzlies, and Cavs frontlines are sh1tting on the Knicks like they're filming a German sheizer video.

The Knicks finished with the bronze medal in the Jordan Sweepstakes. At least they beat out the Lakers.

“I had a great meeting and great presentation,’’ Jordan said after Tuesday’s US Olympic Team mini-camp.“Phil Jackson speaks for himself. Fish [Derek Fisher] did a great job. The whole team had a plan with the organization, a plan for me that was cool. I just decided to stay with the Clippers, but it was great. “The Knicks were definitely a team I was considering.’’

It is crazy when you listen to the so called experts...nobody wants to come to the Knicks.  However, when they ask players...most of them will consider coming to the Knicks.  Most of these reporters are just straight up LIARS with a ANTI-Knicks agenda!!

The Commish needs to look into having the Free Agency period before the draft. Teams will be able to gauge need over grabbing the best player available and it would make for a more interesting draft.

Monroe would had signed if we didn't make a commitment to losing last season. talk about beating a dead horse.

he was never coming anyways - such a non-story.

Or they could have taken Cauley-Stein or Justice Winslow instead. Hindsight is 20-20 because at the time of the draft they had no idea where Aldridge was going to sign.

knicks2016

I don't want to get mad thinking Aldridge may have sign here, if we didn't tell him he had to play center.

I am sorry. but a team with Melo, Aldridge, Seraphin, Calderone, Afflalo, Porzingis, Grant, Early, Galloway, Thanasis, Amundson, Sasha, Thomas, and 2 serviceable stop gap min. bigs (ex. Perkins, Hollins, Aldrich, JaVale McGee, Dalembert, Bargnani, etc ) would have been a clear playoffs team in the east.  Plus, we would have salary cap space to add another max player next season.  Yeah, we wouldn't have been able to get Lopez, Quinn and Williams.

Melo and Aldridge are big time scorers. Afflalo is a good 3rd option.  This is a good playoff team in the east with upside in Porzingis and Grant.

Aldridge said...“Melo and I talked a little bit over text and we have mutual friends that passed messages along. I was interested,” Aldridge said. “I talked to other guys to see if they were interested in going there too. I was interested but when they say they want me to play a position that I don’t want to play, I get it.”

With Melo and Aldridge on board, other guys may have taken less to play with them.  With 2 great players on your team, it increase your chance to add other great players. Phil did a good job picking up the guys he did.  But, Aldridge with Melo would have been a better short term option to get another great player to come here next season.

Porzingis looks like the real deal...but Aldridge is already the real deal!!

@knicks2016 Aldridge and Melo is a playoff team but dont defend enough to scare anyone.

It would be a replica of the Amare situation.

Melo will be a winner when he has a PG that can be a playmaker and score along with guys in the paint who protect the rim and score high % shots. Is KP that guy? no well we have no idea he may be down the line. But we know Aldridge doesnt defend the paint...doesnt score easy baskets hes a jump shooter. He does score and rebound but he's essentially Melo just a bigger that cant shoot 3's. Hes a heck of a player just not a player that puts Melo and us in a championship situation and if ur paying big digit for a 30 year old..thats what you want
