Daniel Murphy with some fancy footwork

Murphy left game Sunday due to calf soreness

Daniel Murphy left Sunday’s game in the ninth inning due to calf soreness.

Murphy later said it started bothering him in the seventh inning (ESPN, Aug. 24).

He doesn’t expect to miss much time, especially since the Mets are off Monday. However, he wouldn’t speculate if he’ll ready to play on Tuesday.

Wilmer Flores took over at second base.

I'm waiting for Sept. 1. Then give Murph all the rest he desires. 'Cause from that date, it's Herrera Time! I can't wait to see this kid in action.

AAA to start 2015, then Queens shortly after. Maybe early, maybe as a Super 2 baby. But Queens at age 21, nonetheless. This kid just rakes, has done it at every level thru AA and he's a real 2B man.

We're mostly talking about Colon's worth today, but the conversation will turn to Murph's trade value really quick once folks get a glimpse of Herrera.

Murph & Flores for a big(ger) OF bat? Murph/Flores/Montero for a very big OF bat? Herrera will push Murph off 2B, we have no spot for Flores & Montero can be replaced.

But each of them can fill specific needs and be upgrades on other teams… esp. AL teams.

How the Mets treat Colon the next 2 week will let us know a little bit about the Wilpons. Very interesting, wait until the off season if you want to dump his contract. He unlike most free agents the Wilpons signed  earned his money
