MetsBlog Q&ACast, pres. by Verizon: Kevin Plawecki talks Triple-A, steps from Mets

Earlier this week in Minnesota, 23-year-old Mets C prospect Kevin Plawecki represented the Mets during MLB’s Futures Game, during which he drove in the game’s first run with an RBI force out in the third inning…

In late June, he was promoted to Triple-A, where he’s hitting just .231 in 15 games.

“Obviously it’s in the back of my mind,” Plawecki told MetsBlog’s Robert Brender, in regards to being a step from the big leagues. That said, he added, “I’ve still got some adjustments to make and still have a lot to learn.”

According to Plawecki, if he continues to work hard and stays focused and positive the results will take care of themselves.

In this week’s MetsBlog Q&ACast, presented by Verizon, Brender talks in depth with Plawecki about adjusting to Triple-A, playing in the Vegas heat, and working with pitcher Noah Syndergaard…

Is Plawecki more valuable then the d'Arnaud or even a better starter? Some say he can play a decent 1B. Right handed to team with Duda besides catching?

A good young prospect to have around.

I think he could be a valuable trade piece.  Some trades I'd like to see....Gerardo Parra and Didi Gregorius from Arizona, might take a DeGrom, Plawecki, Montero and another prospect but I would do it.  Alex Rios and Elvis Andrus from Texas, also would require a large amount of prospects.  Yunel Escobar and Matt Joyce from Tampa Bay, would be cheaper but still an upgrade at LF and SS.   Alexei Ramirez and Alejandro De Aza from the ChiSox might be a good one aswell.

He's on the rise (.231) - last I heard he was hitting .215 in AAA.  He's coming around.

None of those trades make sense and the 1st is a crazy overpay. Parra barely qualifies as an average OF and Didi can barely make it as a ML hitter. To give 3 upper prospects would be crazy. Escobar OPS is roughly that of Tejada and Joyce is a 4th OF. Rios has lost all power and Andru contract is a DOG. Best course of action is to make no trades othe than Colon to SEA for Franklin or Taylor and hold all chips until off season. Plawecki is a very good prospect and as a C his value is high. Call me crazy, but don't trade anyone until mid season next year. Harvey, Parnell and Hefner back. TDA, Duda, DeGrom, JLag and BP mature; prospects in minors more seasoning and really only 2 holes to fill. LF is going to either Nimmo or Comforto and SS does not have to be HOF bat. Franklin at SS and Herrara to replace DM and the Mets have tons of inventory to have best staff in league and plenty of trade chips without need to oberpay
