Banner Day

Mets will host Banner day this Sunday, May 25

Howie Rose, LITE FM’s Rich Kaminski and Mets in-game hosts Alexa Datt and Branden Wellington will serve as judges for Banner Day this Sunday, May 25 at Citi Field.

Tickets for Banner Day and complete guidelines are available at Mets.com/BannerDay.

The judges will select three finalists and then fans at the ballpark and at home will vote for the winner through texting, Twitter and Facebook.

Fans who created the winning banner will receive four VIP tickets, the opportunity to watch batting practice from the field, Mets autographed merchandise and in- game recognition at a mutually agreeable game.

Someone should make this banner:

2014 Mets: You gotta bereave

I'm so sick of losing...

Start a donation account for "Wilpons sell, or go to hell" banners for us all to hold?

My all-time favorite goes back to the early days of the Mets franchise. The Mets were hosting the Giants on Banner Day. The Giants manager at the time was Herman Franks. The winning banner said:

WE DON'T RELISH FRANKS!

This is a bad idea.  A VERY bad idea.

Sign 1: Keith Henandez > Tom Selleck

Sign 2: The Mets

Sign 3: Best Team!

...then once through, rip off what you don't need and stand in order together!

Tried to reply to simbad but it wouldn't take. "S.O.S." says it all - pleasantly. I hope the gatekeeper comes prepared with his sense of humor.

"Mets bite." "For Sale." "S.O.S." "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?"

I hope a banner could give advice or complain as long as it's good natured and/or subtle.

How about "Are We Having Fun Yet?"

I'm glad they're continuing with this. It's a good PR program, a lot of fun for both participants and audience, and hopefully can remind everyone that baseball is about having fun.

Here's a banner: "A Place for Everyone and Everyone in his Place" with big letters for Flores at SS and Lagares in CF.

As much as I hate to admit it. We need power in our lineup. 10 hits should win every game (let alone 13 last night), yet when they are all bloop singles and men are left on base at a historic rate, you will lose.

Line drive hitters don't work in this park (Wright, Beltran, Granderson, Murphy, Lagars, etc). They are great for base hits and OBP, but not run scoring.

So I'm guessing the Free Lagares, Fire TC and SA banners will be led away?

So will the Mets censor any banners? Because 90% of them may not be family-friendly.

I don't care if I win the banner contest. What I care more about Banner Day is to participate and be seen on TV (Mets Insider or Mets Kids Clubhouse on SNY) or online.

Kids, come one come all! The Mets Banner Day is back in Full Force!  Hurry up and get your tickets for this one, they are going fast!!!

Read the Mets banner day rules they "reserve the right to deny any banner or people they deem inappropriate "

Banner day has been around for like 40 years.  It's a mainstay of the Mets, not a gimmick.
