The Mets will honor the Ralph Kiner with a uniform patch during the 2014 season, the team announced today.

Along with the patch, the team will unveil a commemorative logo on the leftfield wall and additional memorials in the team’s Hall of Fame.

“The Mets Hall of Fame and Museum will also debut a display dedicated to Kiner that will be called ‘Kiner’s Korner’ with artifacts and memorabilia chronicling his history with the Mets,” the team said in a release. “The museum already houses Kiner’s Emmy and some of his more famous calls in the Broadcast Legends display that commemorates Mets broadcasters.”

The organization will also incorporate the logo at their spring training facility, Tradition Field.

Kiner passed away last week at the age of 91.

Can't criticize them for that. They actually did something right for a change. I was having nightmares that the Wilpons would ignore Kiner and then put something on the uniform only in July after intense public pressure. Nice that they are actually able to make a competent decision. Keep it coming

If you look over the years, the Mets have had wonderful broadcasters - some iconic.  I do not think that enough is done to celebrate these voices that bring the game to us in a variety of ways.  I have always loved the radio guys, because if you have the right ones, you are almost at the game.  Driving around the country you find some good broadcasters but quite a few that are not so good.  That is why we are lucky.  I would really like to see the Mets join with the Yankees, Giants and Dodgers to find a way to celebrate some of the best of NY broadcasters.  It would be fun for all of us and a constant reminder of those who made our life very enjoyable.

It would be really great if they took a portion of money made for products sold with kiner's patches on them and gave it to charity- you know, so it doesn't look like they are just propping his corpse up to get $ off him...

The patch and and outfield wall sign are all well and good but It would be totally cool if the Mets renamed a section of the left-field stands "Kiner's Korner".

I like the patch. That would look great on the wall in the left field corner too.

Another blog also mentions that this logo will be up on the left field wall and that there will be a ceremony.

This was a no brainer. The exact design is irrelevant as there will also be someone to complain about it. Kiner is more a part of Mets history than 99% of their past players! The patch is a nice start. There should absolutely be something permanent in Citifield but its ok to take their time with that one.

They MUST name Left Field Kiners Korner.

Very chintzy. Instead of those gaudy signs in left field, they should have put a sign there.

I'm glad they are honoring the Ralph Kiner. I really liked the Ralph Kiner, and I know I will miss the Ralph Kiner this year.

I like this. A small orange "K" or maybe even "KK" on the side mighta been aesthetically cooler, but it's still a nice tribute.

@Macacawitz Back in my betting days I probably played about 30 baseball over/unders over the years. If I lost 6 or 7 that would be a lot. Like I told someone else on this site, if Vegas is putting them at 71-72.5 youd be crazy not to take the over. Id personally put the number at 75.5.

Once the sign is in place, maybe it will be one of those things that will catch on. We can just start referring to that spot a Kiner's Korner. I'm cool with that. It'd be cool to hear the announcers refer to it when a ball goes into the korner.

Unfortunately, money speaks louder than anything else these days. The signs are money. Kiner was a real person, the last original Met.

Can't let a chance to complain go by around here.

@mcr11520 @SNYtv  More Wilponian might be the Pepsi Kiner's Korner, Kiner's Pepsi Korner, or something like that.
