Mets will go to six-man rotation when Zack Wheeler is promoted for doubleheader

Terry Collins said Wednesday that the Mets will use a six-man rotation after Zack Wheeler makes his big-league debut in the first game of a double-header against the Braves in Atlanta next Tuesday.

There has been no indication what will happen next…

Gee held the Cardinals to one run yesterday, and has given up just three earned runs in his past three starts, spanning 21 innings.

If today’s game is played as scheduled, the Mets rotation is expected to loo like this over the next week:

  • Thursday: Matt Harvey
  • Friday: Shaun Marcum
  • Saturday: Jonathan Niese
  • Sunday: Jeremy Hefner
  • Monday: Dillon Gee
  • Tuesday: Zack Wheeler and Matt Harvey

If Thursday’s game is postponed, the rotation will shift and the Mets may choose to shuffle the rotation.
