According to SNY’s Kevin Burkhardt, the Mets are interested in having former Met Moises Alou join the coaching staff as their first base coach.
Burkhardt says Alou is considering joining the Mets, who has frequently visited the team since retiring as a player.
Alou is currently serving as the general manager of Los Leones del Escogido in the Dominican Winter League, which is being managed by Mets Triple-A manager Ken Oberkfell.
In 102 games with the Mets from 2007-2008, Alou hit .342 with 13 home runs and 58 RBI in 357 at bats over those two years. He spent much of his tenure with the Mets on the disabled list.
