Mets to meet with agents for Cesar Itzuris
The 32-year-old Izturis, a switch-hitter, hit .241 with 2 HR and 11 RBI in 166 at-bats for the Nationals and Brewers last season, during which he played first base, second, third and shortstop.
Michael Baron, MetsBlog.com:
The Mets need to find depth on the infield, especially at second base and shortstop. The recently traded for Brandon Hicks, who can do this, but probably won’t be guaranteed a roster spot in camp, though I’m sure he’ll compete with other players for a spot on the team’s bench. Still, I would like to see the Mets find a more established utility player, like Ronny Cedeno was last season.

Cesar Itzuris’ agents are expected to meet with the Mets during this week’s MLB Winter Meetings, according to a report from Adam Rubin at ESPN New York
