The Mets and Terry Collins are close to agreeing on a contract extension, according to multiple reports.
The two sides are nearing a two-year extension with a club option for 2016.
If completed, an announcement could come on Monday.
The Mets are 223-260 in three years under Collins.
Michael Baron, ContributorWe will get more into this during the week, but this has been inevitable for a long time now. Sandy Alderson has been clear about his opinion of Terry’s job performance, and quite frankly, the language Terry has used over the last couple of weeks – be it about players on the roster, team needs, etc. – have suggested he would be at the helm going forward. If anything, getting this out of the way now ends any speculation, rumors, and sheds any doubt about the situation, which given the work that needs to be done on the roster this winter, can only be a good thing.
