Mets still looking for reliever, big-league deal possible

The Mets are still looking for a closer-type for the bullpen, even after signing Kyle Farnsworth (Rubin, Feb. 3).

According to a source, the team could still sign a reliever to a big-league contract (Carig, Feb. 3), even though  Sandy Alderson said he was unlikely to do so last week (DiComo, Jan. 29).

It was first reported last week that the Mets, Orioles and two other teams are looking at free-agent Fernando Rodney (Brown, Jan. 24), and have been linked to free-agent Mitchell Boggs since early December (Sherman, Dec. 9).
