While the main terms and signing bonus have been agreed upon, the Mets are still finalizing their deal with Michael Conforto (Heyman, July 2).
Conforto, a 21-year-old outfielder from Oregon State, was selected by the Mets with the 10th overall pick during the first round of the June 5 draft.
It was reported a few weeks ago that the Mets and Conforto had agreed to basic terms, but there are still details to work out.
Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said “there are three or four [mostly] non-financial clauses” that are being hammered out, and added that he “certainly” expects the deal to get done.
The Mets have until July 18 to finalize their deal with Conforto.
