Mets sign Rhyne Hughes to minors deal

The Mets announced they have signed 1B Rhyne Hughes to a minor league contract.

Hughes will report to minor league camp.

Hughes, 29, played his only season in the Major Leagues in 2010 with the Orioles. In 14 games that season, Hughes hit .213 with a .275 OBP and four RBI in 51 plate appearances.

In 75 games for Double-A Bowie last season, Hughes hit .278 with a .370 OBP, 13 home runs and 51 RBI in 313 plate appearances. He’s hit .271 with a .342 OBP with 102 home runs in 799 career minor league games over eight seasons.
