Mets sign Ramon Ortiz

The Mets have signed free-agent RHP Ramon Ortiz to a minor-league deal, according to producer Gerard Guilfoyle of SNY.

The 37–year-old Ortiz, who was cut by the Dodgers in May, will report to Triple-A Buffalo.

In 16 relief appearances this season, he was 1–2 with a 6.30 ERA in 30 innings, during which he walked 16 batters and struck out 21.

He did not pitch in the big leagues in 2008 or 2009.
