Mets sending top prospects to Arizona Fall League

The Mets will send position prospects Brandon Nimmo and Matt Reynolds and pitchers Cory Mazzoni, Paul Sewald, Rob Whalen and Julian Hilario to the Arizona Fall League.

The AFL was developed to allow top players to play winter ball in the United States. The league opens play in early October.

The Mets said there is also one more position player that will be sent to the AFL, but it has not been decided yet.

Position player...   Have the Mets given up on Puello? He could use some playing time. He really needs to turn it around as the Mets could use him in the outfield and as a right handed bat.

Good! Let them go there and get more playing time.

Conforto might benefit from this too. I went to the Cyclones game in Staten Island last night and it was clear how advanced he is relative to that level of competition. Went 2-4, but every single ball was hit hard. Used the whole field, too. I'm really looking forward to watching his ascent to the big leagues.

EDIT: For those concerned about his defense, I personally witnessed him throw an absolute laser to nail a runner at home in a late-and-close situation. He looked fantastic out there.

@Mike Herrington i am guessing his stock is way down in the organization after the PED suspension last year and having an awful year this year

He should have been in St Lucie weeks ago. The Wilpons are hurting his development for their personal greed.
