Mets RHP prospect Michael Fulmer has something to prove

“I feel like I have something to prove this year,” Mets RHP prospect Michael Fulmer said after his last start.

The Mets selected Fulmer in the first round of the 2011 draft. He was ranked No. 10 among Mets prospects by MLB.com entering the 2013 season.

However, his 2013 was ruined by a torn meniscus suffered early in spring training. He eventually had surgery. The injury, and the lost development time, are forcing him to repeat the Florida State League this season.

He admits the knee, and the thought of the knee, bothered him nearly all last year. To get ready for 2014, Fulmer, who turned 21 in March, emphasized stability training for his legs in addition to traditional strength work. The idea was that the balance would help him repeat his mechanics >> Read the rest of this story at Mets Minor League Blog.

Really? Are we calling this kid a prospect? He has been atrocious this season. He has started 3 games, pitched 13 total innings, has given up 16 earned runs for a 11.08 ERA, along with 25 hits & 1 walk for a 2.00 WHIP. That is beyond atrocious. How about we read about someone that is having a good season, thanks.

Nice ancillary benefit of having all these quality arms in the system.  It breeds competition.  No more "participatory trophies".  You want to stick?  Find a way to compete.  Good for this kid being self-aware.  Hope it brings him success.

We have plenty of pitching prospects but what about hitting prospects? We can't be a winning team with pitchers alone. We need good batters sooner rather than later.

When the Mets shake the tree, pitchers fall out.  How about someone who can actually hit.

Paul DepodesTOOL has yet to draft a MLB starting player/pitcher. Don't hold any hope for this kid.

This blog is slowly finding out that Balderson/DepodesTOOL are miserable at drafting.

@JimmyBX182  Except Nick Swisher, Joe Blanton and Mark Teahen. Also drafted a pitcher named David Price who the Dodgers couldn't sign

LMFAO. Why are you giving gopher credits to Billy Beane's coffee chaser??? Isn't it STUNNING how minus Beane DepodesTOOL can't pick snots out of his nose???

@Anthony Fiore @JimmyBX182 Stop it Anthony.  Stop disproving people's blanket statements.  Statements that eternal pessimistic Mets fans make to put down the team they supposedly "love".  Statement they make without doing any sort of research to back them up.

Stop it, Michael. You're swinging pom poms as if you were paid by a DepodesTOOL groupie. If you did any research, you would easily find out that Beane was the scout/GM in Oakland. DepodesTOOL is a number cruncher, stat geek who when given the reigns to draft on his own in LA and for Balderson in SD, scuked more than a porn queen.

LMFAO @ Anthony trying to give credit for drafting a guy who wasn't going to sign with them. Wooooooooow! As if that's not done on the regular. Sorry, but THAT doesn't count, corky.
