The Mets have recalled C Travis d’Arnaud from Triple-A Las Vegas.
To make room for d’Arnaud on the active roster, the Mets have placed John Buck on paternity leave.
Buck can be on paternity leave for three games, at which point he must be activated – the Mets will have to remove somebody from the active roster before Tuesday’s game against the Braves at Citi Field.
Yesterday in San Diego, Sandy Alderson told reporters it was possible d’Arnaud could remain with the club when Buck returns from leave.
In 19 games with Triple-A Las Vegas this season, d’Arnaud has hit .304 with a .487 OBP and 1.041 OPS, two home runs and 12 RBI in 56 at-bats.
D’Arnaud spent nearly three months on the disabled list with a broken foot he sustained from a foul ball while catching in April.
D’Arnaud will wear number 15 on his jersey.
