BFD....all this is doing is exchanging mediocre for mediocre. When will they realize they need new blood. These guys are minor league players unfortunately....and we need MLB players. This is a joke already!!!

Oh, boy this is exciting. Swapping one quadruple A lefty for another. When are we gonna see Zach Lutz again?

Anybody want to tell me what this move does? They're the same exact kind of player. They're both 5th outfielders at best.

Sell, sell, sell at the deadline. Miami Marlins style!

Alderson got rid of Hudgens and Valverde out of the blue. Collins and CY are next...  Alderson would never show his cards. The axe will come. We have 2 weeks until July 4th... 6 games back... Cold hard logic would say bring up Backman, get Lagares back, get D'arnaud back, start Wilmer everyday and see if we can get ourselvses high enough in the standings to be BUYERS. If we don't, then it's time to be SELLERS, but SELLERS that build for NEXT YEAR. This team isn't that far, the lineup needs help and we need a spark (Backman)... Cold hard logic says it is attainable, and soon.

Swap one AAAA player with another, the 2014 New York Mets

90 wins here we come. We now only have one lower case d left on the team

We're not going to win anything this year and we do have money issues.

Therefore, deal Niese to the Angels in a package built around Cron.

Assuming Gee comes back soon and proves he's okay, deal him to Texas along with Duda in a package built around getting Sardinas.

Turn Colon in a deal with whoever will give us the most return and take on the most money.

Make a decision on Murphy. Either move him or sign him long term.

Then play Cron everyday at 1B, Sardinas at SS and Flores at 2B if you move Murphy. You are now younger and built better for the future, hopefully 2015.

But as important you have freed up enough money to sign whatever else you decide over next few months that you need.

Perfect world d'Arnaud then comes up and settles in and then your infield is set.

Just a thought

And where are the people (Steven) who were screaming for Lowrie? The .222 hitting Lowrie

d'D or Newi, both are the second coming of Rod Gaspar at best, no OF's doing much at top two tiers of METS farm system. Mgt thinks Young a career .232 guy w/ 12 HR's last year for A's will somehow hit 15 at CitiF and increase to .240? That's worth $7.5M?? Unreal...yet, METS stilll refuse to DL him (maybe to get 10 days of rehab AB's and see if he can mange to hit SOMETHING) or just release him now, hoping another team signs him and we save maybe $250K~ (that's all) or so of prorated MLB minimum to be RID OF HIM! It's time, Flores to play 5x a week, Campbell to find more time whether in LF, 1B once a week, 3B 2x a month, double switching, etc., we already know what EY, Grandy, Murphy can do, let's TRY some of the kids! As for catcher, a few weeks at LV and colo Spgs doesn't make d'Arnaud the next Johnny Bench, he should stay to Sept as last two years were shortened w/ injury. Let management decide who'll take these kids forward in September when AAA season is over, Wally or Tim T? '77-83 seems so the near past as '08-14 has become! Why, oh why in NY are we managed as if in Memphis or Portland , OR??? Why, why, why.....do METS fans suffer so and get doublespeak as the answer?? Stay away from CitiF and SNY until change is real change!

Captain Kirk is now safely aboard!

Hey Scotty - don't forget to beam up Wally too! And leave Terry Collins on Ceti Alpha 5

Maybe the Mets need to play at Las Vegas instead of Citi Field.

OK, but #FREEFLORES also.

Nieuwenhuis has a history of having a flashy beginning, complete with a big hit or a big catch, and then receding into the background. He's still young. Here's wishing him the best., ,

I'm hoping, no praying Kirk rips the cover off the ball and at the very least, shares time in LF with EY, when Lagares comes back. Maybe, that forces management to DFA Chris.

Marc Singleton

No . I'm totally convinced that Collins keeps his job solely because of his friendship with Kofax. Unfortunately, Collins is not going anywhere.

This is a bad team, but together by the most overrated GM in all of pro sports, and owned by people who's intentions may be good, but clearly have no idea what they are doing.

No. Collins or no Collins, there is no end in sight to this mess.

Let's Go Royals!

@Tarheel11 Don't forget Niese is the only lefty we got, he's proven to be a solid #3,and every other pitcher has major question marks around them so I hesitate to trade him

Tarheel11
Tarheel11

Then deal Dice K and Abreu for whatever you can get. And do ANYTHING with CY that means removing him from this roster

dolemite
dolemite

@Jeffrey Miller I dont want to deal Niese, he is still affordable and he knows how to pitch.  We have guys like Montero who have value and may never actually put it all together.  If TdA asserts himself over the next few weeks then Plawecki is a chip as well.

I am fine with dealing the likes of Colon and and ABreu but I don'tw ant to set us back 10 years when all we really need for nest year is a SS and a LF who can hit-

I am one of those poor souls who is waiting on 2015.

@bigslick Or maybe on that planet with Captain Pike so he could live in an illusory world where all his players are 'taking good swings' and know how to run the bases.

@mesmo I guess Kirk is mroe suited to playing left and putting a charge into one every couple of weeks.

dolemite

@BringBackDaveTelghe Once Lagares is back both Matt and Kirk will be in Vegas and Brown will be back up. Brown at least can hit lefties and has power off the bench.

@eric88 . . .I want to give Flores the benefit of a doubt. He needs to show he can be an everyday player. It's true TC is not playing him much but he doesn't exhibit much when given the opportunity.

He needed time off, watched too many Mets games

Jerry Colfer

I agree, but think he got jobbed on his last call up. I would rather give him a shot at sticking than watch CY in the lineup. I am hoping that when Juan gets back we can DFA Young. The moneys is gone and there is no reason to inflict this mess on another.

@hankypanky

I agree with your comment 100% up to the part about wishing him the best. I would not wish him any harm, but we all have seen this movie before. There will be 1or 2 big bangs and a plane ticket to LasV in 3 weeks.

Kirk, Lagares, Granderson should have been the outfield all along. Plus defense, and a .260 20 20 player guaranteed.

He is Grady Sizemore lite in his prime. Give him a go.

Kirk

Wright

Grandy

Lagares

Flores

Let's run this lineup out there month of July and I guarantee we are looking at 4 runs a game minimum.

Campbell, EY, CY, Recker, Abreu

a solid bench as well.

Tarheel11
Tarheel11

@Tarheel11 Could not agree more. However, he's making decent money (big for us) 7M next year and then 9M the year after so payroll is a concern. As well as the fact that he would net the biggest return

metsfan91
metsfan91

@MetsFan1962 @eric88 A player can't grow and contribute as much as he's capable of when the manager plays him one game then sits him 5. He was heating up after that grand slam and double off the wall and TC goes right back to sitting him. Overall TC has done a horrible job with Flores. He doesn't know how to manage it's simple. Ruben is what he is you know what to expect. Flores needs a chance like Ruben was given and he failed at.

Jerry Colfer
Jerry Colfer

Agree. We have seen what Tejada can do and it is right where he is now, a .230 hitter with no speed or RBI capability. Playing Wilmer sporadically lets him get stale and never gives him the chance ( or us) to see if he can produce. We are 8 games under .500. Wilmer may give us some offense to make up a few games and his perceived defensive flaws are not going to hurt us. We know Tejada is not a solution for next year so there is nothing to lose.

dolemite
dolemite

@metsfan91 @John Kranzley In all of Queens and Vegas we have only 2 quality outfielders.  Sure we can patch together left with some pieces but that should be an area to target in trades
