Mets Minor League Report on LHP prospect Jack Leathersich

Matthew Cerrone, Lead Writer

Mets 22-year-old LHP Jack Leathersich is 2-6 with a 3.00 ERA in 72 innings in Single-A since being drafted in 2011.

There is a nice little buzz starting around this kid, a) because he’s looking like he could be a nice arm in a future bullpen, and b) he’s really confident, aggressive and has a colorful on-field personality. They say he has really nice movement with his fastball, which works well for him because he has no fear of throwing in on guys. However, he still needs to work on being consistent with his┬ádelivery, especially when switching to his secondary pitches. Think of him on the Josh Edgin track, i.e., two years of Single-A, and hopefully moving through Double-A this year, and competing for the big-league bullpen next spring.

Also, he goes by @LeatherRocket on Twitter, where you’ll hear a lot about his trips to Chipotle…
