Mets may play exhibition games in Vegas next spring

According to the Star-Ledger, Mets officials have considered playing an exhibition game next spring in Las Vegas before the 2013 season begins.

Yesterday, at a press conference in Las Vegas, Sandy Alderson announced that Wally Backman will remain in the Mets organization as manager of their new Triple-A affiliate, the Las Vegas 51s.

The Mets played two exhibition games in Vegas right before the 1996 season, along with the Red Sox, Mariners, A’s and Padres.
