This past weekend, Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com said, citing an American League executive, that the Mariners could trade LHP Cliff Lee within seven to 10 days.
However, in a post to Twitter yesterday, SNY’s Kevin Burkhardt said the Mets are not ready to include Jenrry Mejia in a deal for Lee, unless they can work to negotiate a contract extension with Lee before officially acquiring him.
…not ready sounds to me like the Mets are willing to reconsider their position, but probably feel like they do not have to so long as other team’s have yet to bring their best package to Seattle… like i said last week, the minute the Mets officially take mejia off the table, the price drops, and other teams will get more involved…
In case you missed it last night, Mejia was removed from his start today for Double-A Binghamton with ‘right shoulder stiffness,’ according to SNY.
According to Rosenthal, though the Mets, Dodgers and Rangers have all inquired about Lee, “Many in the industry project the Twins as the front-runner.”
