Mets hire assistant hitting coach

The Mets have named Luis Natera the team’s assistant hitting coach, the team announced. It is a newly created position.

This is the twenty-fourth season with the Mets for Natera, the team said. Most recently, he had been the hitting coach with the Double-A Binghamton Mets.

hopefully this is good sign going forward.  I feel the direction we are going is positive. A resurgence from

Chris Young and Ike Davis would make the goal of 90 wins a possiblity. The pitching is great. There is

depth on the farm if anyone falters. We need to work w/Vic Black to groom him as the closer in the

future.

How can we hire coaches and not players?  Is he working for free?

@Victor Triguero  Numerous teams have added an assistant hitting coach over the past few years. About 2/3 of MLB clubs have one now.
