Mets expected to call up position player prior to Wednesday’s game

The Mets are expected to call up another position player before Wednesday night’s game, barring another extra-inning affair on Tuesday.

The team needed extra bullpen help after three straight games going into extras against Philadelphia. They’re currently carrying 13 relievers and four bench players.

Matthew Cerrone, Lead Writer

June 2: I assume either reliever Buddy Carlyle or Dana Eveland will be demoted.

It’s worth noting that Josh Satin is doing well in Las Vegas, where he’s playing a lot of second base and again working out in the outfield.

Seems to me that with Lagares and EY out, and Flores a good fill in for now, the obvious need is for another outfielder... or a starting pitcher....right now... Dice K belongs in the pen...Campbell can play a few positions if need be. I hope they realize Den Decker's talent, and plan to keep him - platoon him -  with whomever when the other two get back.

Can we please stop with Josh Satin.  He is not a major leaguer.  We know this.  Let's give Campbell or Brown some more opportunities to disappoint.

I hope the Mets give Andrew Brown or Lutz a shot because frankly, Josh Satin is a career AAA player not of major league caliber.

We've seen enough of Satin.  Let's move on . . .

Den Dekker is up for Lagares.  Dice-K is due to start, so they need another reliever. Two position players are on the DL, true, but really .. Satin?  YAWN.  Campbell should play more than he is as is. If Satin is the best you can do, we need more AAA players.

Andrew Brown far and away deserves the call up. He's hitting .350 with .439 OBP 13 HR 12 2B 31 R and 31 RBI. Plus he's 29yrs old so I'm not worried about him getting regular playing time for his development as opposed to riding the pine for the most part on the MLB bench.

We already have josh satin, his name is Eric Campbell and he's better

Cerrone, I'm beginning to feel you are Satin's agent or he owes you money or something. Satin is a AAA player at best and AAAA if he's on fire, which he isn't. He's a bust, move on. There are much more deserving players in Vegas who should get a shot.

Since it was made clear Satin's taking reps at 2nd .....

Please...not Satin again. We know what he is and it's worthless..he's raking in a hitters haven vs inferior competition.

No more no dimensional Satin. He's horrible. No speed no power and he has a sad looking disposition.

Why is it worth noting that Satin is doing well in Vegas?  Everyone is doing well in Vegas, including a bunch who are doing better than Satin, like Brown, Dykstra, Lutz, Teagarden...

MOST teams outfit their benches with career utility guys and/or older vets (guys not too affected by riding the pine).  I know that requires spending a little money but...maybe if they did that, they could stop having 22 and 23 yr old guys coming up to Queens and sitting.

Andrew Brown! Start him in left!

Hopefully it's from another team's farm system.

I wonder if they are doing this so they can have enough bench to give Wright, Murphy and maybe Granderson a day off.

I'm good with satin staying in AAA forever.. nothing against him but he don't need another singles hitter who can't run

Well that is good only if you are going to use them.  IF not keep the extra BP pitcher as we could use him more  if Terry is going to let that call up rot on the bench

Nooooooo, no Josh Satin, please. One of the most unwatchable players in the organization. Has no business being up with the Mets.

The Mets are finally smartening up, using LV like a shuttle transferring players back and forth as needed. I am impressed!

@Mark McDermott Satin stinks.  I agree he is not a major leaguer.  Matt is out of his mind

Hell with how god awful CY has been Brown should probably start everyday in LF.

And he just muddles Duda. I really think Duda should start vs all lefties except the elite guys. Help him stay in a groove more and the other options really so suck.
