The Mets “don’t like” Angels 1B Mark Trumbo (Martino, Nov. 4).
The Angels have already shown a willingness to deal Trumbo and Peter Bourjos to acquire starting pitching (Olney, Oct. 29), although it’s possible they could look to first trade Howie Kendrick before considering deals for their extra outfielders (Heyman, Sept. 6).

The way I’ve heard it, the Mets like Trumbo’s power, but they don’t think he’s an ideal clean-up hitter. That said, I bet if Sandy Alderson rolls craps on other acquisitions, and he ends up trading Ike Davis, Trumbo would be an option. Aybar and Kendrick, who have been available since last winter, should pique his interest, as well. The buzz from LA is that the Angels are seeking a young, inexpensive starting pitcher and not prospects, which sounds more like Dillon Gee or Jon Niese. And, I don’t see Alderson trading this level pitcher for anyone other than an ideal fit. And, I don’t see the Angels trading a group of big-league players for anything other than their ideal pitcher.
