According to a team spokesman, the Mets have been calling fans who purchased a ticket-plan earlier this season to offer free tickets to one of the team’s remaining home games as a way to say, ‘Thank you for your support.’
The fans I have talked with were all given field-level tickets, and were very happy with the offer.
It’s a great gesture… it is.
The thing is, call it a ‘Thank You,’ or a ‘reward,’ etc., but, in either case, it’s sad to see the Mets this desperate to get people in to the building, in which they’re basically giving away tickets… since once there, even if for free, the fan will likely spend money on food and drinks, and so on.
I mean, I can’t believe this is how the organization planned it when breaking ground for Citi Field in late 2006.
