Mets record against the NL East and Phillies

By winning three of four games against the Phillies this past weekend, the Mets won eight games in Philadelphia in one season for the first time since 1972 (ESPN, Aug. 12).

The Mets are 11-5 against the Phillies this season, but just 16-19 against the rest of the NL East.

The Mets have 25 games left against teams in their division this season, but just three against the Phillies.

The Mets have always handled the Phillies pretty well, even when the Phils were champs. In '07 and '08, the Mets' problem was their inability to make hay against the bad teams of the division (Nats and Marlins), not getting whooped by the Phillies.

And in '72 Lefty Carlton won almost 1/2 of those Phillie games, making the Expos look even "good"....so we can beat a last place team (again), just wish we coulda beat the Braves more in the 90's/00's

The team that gives us the most problems now is the Nats.  The Mets need to find some ways to beat them.  SInce the middle of 2011, we're 15-40 vs the Nats.

Wow. The mets do better against the bad team in the division, but do not do as well against the good teams?

what a shocker!

The Phillies' record against everyone but the Mets:  48-55.

The Mets' record against everyone but the Phillies:  46-57.

People on this board say the Mets keep beating the Phillies because the Phillies suck.  Actually, it's the other way around.

Yeah, but that is 25 games without Chris Young.

I'll take it. The Phillies are getting paid to play this game too.

@Eric Slater Agreed.  Mets have enough problems hitting and their staff is strong.  Not a good combo.  Hopefully, they take it to them starting with tonight's game.

And as bad as they are when they have Cole Hamels on the mound they are a different team.
