I want the Rangers to sign this guy, semin, or santorelli for depth. Obviously semin would be more than for just depth but I think If we get step for the right price we can get 1 more free agent to help the team. All agreed lol?

Fehr would be a great fit for the Rangers. He kills penalties, which is now a need after the Hagelin trade, can play center or wing, and is fast and physical. He is a good bottom 6 player, but could also move up and fill in if there are injuries. I would like to see if they could fit him in.

Start by trading Glass for a 7th round pick. That clears $1.45 M in space, which I believe gets the Rangers to about $11.5M in space to re-sign your 4 RFA's and potentially Fehr. If Miller, Fast, and Etem are all going to be playing for their qualifying offers (as rumored), that's about $2.6M bringing the cap space down to $8.9M. I still think Stepan will come in around $6M as the O'Reilly contract was just ridiculous. So that's about $2.9M left. Make Fehr a modest offer and see if he wants to be part of a cup contender.

@....... The Rangers havent found someone to produce the 37 goals they lost with MSL and Hagelin. Lindberg will make the team and take Hagelins spot on the PK.

Everyone wants to trade Glass but the problem is there isnt any team out there that wants him. Especially for 1.5 per as a cap hit. Its not going to happen. Stop dreaming. If anyone wanted him they could have signed him as a FA last year. Now that he had such a great year with his one (1) goal outburst how many teams are banging on the door to trade for him?

It doesnt matter if you think ROR contract to be ridiculous or not. Its a fact now. Yes I know you cant use it in arbitration, but it can be used in discussions as well as Stepans being an assistant Captain. Stepan's cap hit will be around the 7 mil per year mark. I have no doubt unless he takes a home team discount at 6.5.

@Frank B @....... The Rangers feel that between Etem and Stalberg, and more goals from Kreider, Miller, and Fast, they will make up those 37 goals.

Last offseason, the Canucks gave us a 3rd round pick for Derek Dorsett and his $1.67M cap hit coming off a 4 goal-4 assist season. Zac Rinaldo (who is a worse player than Glass, granted Rinaldo's contract is better) just fetched a 3rd round pick next year (also granted this was a terrible trade). If the Rangers want to move Glass they can. The deal may have to be Glass + a 5th or 6th for a 7th, but if they go to a team that needs to add contracts to reach the cap floor, they can move him.

The ROR contract will be used by Stepan's camp in the negotiation for a long term deal, but that deal is a complete outlier. The Sabres needed to over pay. There are plenty of more reasonable contracts that the Rangers can use to negotiate their side. Stepan is going to get paid either way. If he wants to be a Ranger, he can sign a long term deal around $6M per. Otherwise he will be traded.

@Frank BSo then you do have doubt cause he could take a hometown discount?

I like Fehr alot, but I think the Rangers are done unless we get a trade.

That is my issue with jumping into UFA market on day one. I feel if you wait you get better bargains ,especially when your a good team and in NY. You could get a vet who wants one year contract to play for cup.

I much rather have Fehr over Stalberg.

@Adam Rabinowitz Agree and disagree on the Rangers strategy. It appears the Rangers (who are smarter than you and me) like Stalberg quite a bit. He does seem like a very good fit for the Rangers system (something that is not true of his fit with Nashville). Considering his last contract was 4 years / $12M, I think the Rangers feel they got a great bargain getting him for 1 year / $1.1M.

It'd be nice but first, the Rangers need to re-sign Stepan and see what's still available in terms of cap space. Honestly though, I'd prefer they call up Lindberg. He's the right price and he's ready to play

I'd roll the dice on Semin at 1.3

I hope. He's scaring people away because whenever someone gets bought out, no one wants to take a chance. If we get him for that, that is a major plus. He's a superstar who just had a dip in his career because Carolina isn't good at all

@Frank B So, Semin replaces MSL who was traded for Cally and we compare the two who plays better for this year, not a bad idea.

Side note the two 1st round Ranger picks (2014,2015) are scrimmaging in Barcleys Center in Brooklyn.
