Mets activate Niese from DL, DFA Carlyle

The Mets activated LHP Jon Niese from the DL and designated reliever Buddy Carlyle for assignment after Sunday’s game.

According to Terry Collins, Niese will start Monday in Seattle, his first game action since going on the DL on July 6 with a left shoulder strain.

The DL stint was sandwiched around the All-Star break, so Niese ended up missing just one start.

He is 5-4 with a 2.96 ERA this season.

Daisuke Matuszaka will move to the bullpen to replace Carlyle to open a spot in the rotation for Niese.

What? Have you actually watched him pitch this year. Even today he was pretty good. It what was called a lack of control had become effectively wild His fastball has good movement and even his change up or split what ever that was looked pretty good . If Parnell can be what he was the Mets will have the best bullpen in baseball. Black is an important part of this pen and probably the best pen the Mets have had in years
