Jenrry Mejia returned to New York yesterday to have a follow-up exam to his physical.

9:00 am: The Mets expect Mejia will be shut down for about 10 days, a source said (Martino, Daily News).

Hmm, like Jose Reyes a few years ago. If you recall with Jose, the prescription was rest, no baseball activity and repeated exams for about a week or so… and something about shellfish. Seriously. In either case, this doesn’t bode well for Mejia, who had Tommy John surgery two years, was held up this spring due to visa issues, and now this… I’m starting to worry he’s going to be the Fernando Martinez of Mets Pitching << click to tweet this.
Mejia has made only one appearance so far this Spring, allowing four earned runs on three hits with a walk and two strikeouts in one inning.
