Matt Harvey to toss 20 pitches Saturday in PSL

Matt Harvey will throw Saturday in St. Lucie for the first time since having Tommy John surgery, according to a team source (Daily News, Feb. 21).

Matthew Cerrone, Lead Writer

I’ve heard from people here that he’ll do very light throwing, probably from around 20 feet and then call it a day. The team was planning on having him throw today. I don’t know why the change, but he’s dying to get out there, they say.

I believe the thinking is to do it tomorrow, during the team’s first full-squad workout, because it will probably occur in quiet, with no cameras or reporters (who will all be distracted doing other stuff). Today was a quiet day in camp. It would have been the only thing talked about this afternoon. Tomorrow will be a different story…

Remember what happined to Johan when he tried doing to much to soon. It's to early for him to throw off a mound.

I wish all the Mets players had his grit.

"To toss 20 PITCHES" - are you kidding me with that headline?!

I love metsblog for my mets news, but I'm getting sick and tired of bad headlines and trying to play up controversy such as yesterday's "Harvey cleared to pitch and Mets Brass not happy" article, especially cerrone's discussion playing up the controversy. Especially since you are an SNY employee now, you shouldn't be playing up story lines that make the mets look bad.

And on another criticism, during the offseason there was way tooooooo much recycling the same discussion line, many articles and opinions word for word. It's ridiculous. I check metsblog and start reading and quickly realize I read the same exact thing the day before.

Time to re-evaluate the blog! Listen to what the people are saying and respond.

What's the freaking rush?  He's going to re-blow that elbow if doesn't show some restraint.

The headline is misleading. He's won't be throwing off a mound any time soon. Taking the mound to make 20-foot throws would be pretty silly.

@Matthew Crawford Yep. Harvey may throw the ball 20 times tomorrow, but in no way, shape, or form will he be throwing 20 "pitches."  I'm not one to gripe about the writing here, but that's a horrible choice of words and completely inaccurate.

@Frank Garza  He is behind schedule to start tossing at the four month mark. What's the delay is more the question than what is the rush.
