Bruce Bochy officially announced on Monday afternoon that Matt Harvey will be the National League starting pitcher for Tuesday’s All-Star Game at Citi Field.
“It’s definitely a huge honor and something I’m very excited about,” Harvey said.
Harvey will be the third pitcher in franchise history to start the All-Star game as a Met, in addition to Tom Seaver (1970) and Doc Gooden (1986, 1988).
“What a tremendous year he’s had,” Bochy said. “It really wouldn’t have mattered what city we were playing in with the year he had.”
