Matt Harvey said yesterday that he is “ahead of schedule,” six days after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
“I am just doing range of motion stuff now, but today was the first day I could take the bandages off and I was at (Hospital for Special Surgery) working and everybody thinks I am ahead of schedule,” Harvey told the Daily News, prior to attending last night’s Rangers game at MSG.
Harvey said he feels good and is working hard in his rehab.
According to the Daily News, “His arm was out of the sling that he wore post-surgery and he was able to straighten it. He wore a metal brace on the outside of his shirt from his upper to lower arm to protect the elbow.”

Anything is possible, and everyone is different, but the team is preparing for him to miss all of 2014, which is exactly what they should do. The typical rehab calls for him to start throwing next summer. However, for people in his situation, it’s always wise to ease back, get in a full winter of rest and preparation so he can attack 2015 at full strength.
