Mariners Wanted Ike Davis for Cliff Lee

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Mariners asked each team bidding to acquire Cliff Lee for their best position prospect who was ready to play at the Major League level.

The Mariners asked the Mets for Ike Davis as part of a deal for Lee, while they asked for C Jesus Montero from the Yankees, LF prospect Desmond Jennings from the Rays, and 1B prospect Justin Smoak, whom they ultimately acquired from the Rangers in exchange for Lee.

…i’d say the Mets made the right call on this one…forget the fact that Davis is one of the top rookies in baseball – who would the Mets have at first base…i suppose they could’ve reverted back to their opening day platoon of Mike Jacobs and Fernando Tatis…or not…

We may not get him and I wouldn't say hes piece we need but as a Knick fan, Id feel waaay better about the season if we had him as a starter vs what we got....and so would you

@Kvdaone Lawson is a stud.  Def want him. He will make Melo better, he will make Porzingis better.

Lets get somethin str8 for all you bball pros.......Ty Lawson is in no way a bad defender. ...hes a liability yes but theres a big difference btwn the 2......Harden no D....Iverson liability. ...get it

Lawson is a talented player, unfortunately he appears to be alcoholic.  No reason to bring in a guy like this.

My purpose for bringin Rodmans sexuality up was bcuz it was questionable which caused the media circus so Ty cant be that bad

Adorable that you guys all mention his offense......but no one says anything about how bad on defense he is.

We already have Melo who is ehh on defense..you need everyone else on ur line up..better yet rotation shouldnt have one defender worse then him....Calderon is already cutting it close. Difference is..Jose can be a back up...Lawson would never take a trade here and have a rookie start over him.

If you draft a rookie that gets it...you dont get a guy in his prime to start over him...you get a veteran leaving his to show him the ropes.

Oh and I am actually a Lawson fan but on a different offense and a diff roster.

Melo is no longer horrible on D and he hasnt been for about 3 seasons. Hes no lock down guy....hell, he barely stays in front of his man up top but he is solid down low

Sam....you implying Lawson so much really shows that you dont know what the Knicks are trying to build here.

I'd be HIGHLY surprised if we considered it. Faried?..maybe...Lawson? no. He provides nothing we covet and I've read you or someone else mention Ty like he's this savior multiple times..look at Phil's teams...look at the team we have now. Lawson just doesnt make sense...please stop beating this dead horse.

Nuggets are not giving Lawson away... I would rather we make a play for Seth Curry. He is not under contract.

Ty Lawson and rookie Grant might be the best thing we've had at pg since a 2010 Felton and that's a stretch....

Let's stay put. I'm not even sure about the last 2 signings. Lopez and Afflalo are solid pickups. Calderon will bounce back this year. even if he comes of bench Phil should be  expecting competition between him and Grant.

Lawson would make this team look bloated

My thing with Ty is does he have a history of issues? I don't recall hear things like that about him in the past, not to excuse it but the way he has been treated & wasted by the Nuggets could drive any man to drink! Lol

Ndour reminds me a bit of D. Carrol in more ways than one. Mike Breen said tonight that there was likely "no room" on the roster for Ndour. Aren't there at least three spots still open? And don't we need another big man?

BronsonSNY
BronsonSNY

@preybird Breen said that because he probably didn't know the backstory to the Ndour SL invite. Other teams have expressed interest but wanted Ndour on their D-League team which Ndour wasn't in favor of as he would like to play overseas. The Knicks, who have been scouting him for quite sometime, were in favor of the move to appease Ndour which is why he is on the Knicks squad. I'm pretty sure if he continues to impress, there will be room for him on the roster. Notice how they're waiting to use the exception? They're looking for a center, energy SF/PF and shooter. Kirk and Ndour anyone?

Said that same thing below a while back, same hustle type guy with an evolving offensive skill set, can't see keeping wear or ledo over him when i watch them all play for the last 3 games. My gut tells me he forces his way on the team along with another big filling the last 2 spots.

Having Lawson would give us a sure fire 2nd scorer as well

Ty is a big star on a crap team in a small market, let's not confuse him with JR lol this is a pure stud PG with a high basketball IQ. Watch this clip & watch how he shatters defenses while the whole time knowing where every teammate is, plus he can score at will...

Every single guy Phil has brought to NY since he's come back, he's mentioned character, this guy isn't close...no way !!

Lawson is accumulating DUIs like they're assists. The Knicks do not want guys like this on a roster with young kids.

the only reason Jackson took a chance on those head cases is because he had a hierarchy in olace to self police it. Lawson in NY sounds like a horrible idea. Stay the course my friend.

Go out and get Lawson by any means necessary he is a stud.

Ndor is taking somebody's spot for sure the way he plays, he remi ds me of Carroll who played on ATL last yr. An energy guy hustles hard with an evolving offensive game. Dont see how you can keep wear or Ledo over him at this point.

The Knicks could've drafted Lawson outright if Donnie Wash had done his job.

Interesting Idea. I'm guessing you're using Calderon to make this deal happen.

Calderon/Early/Galloway/Ledo works money wise. Interesting idea but he seems to have issues and NY just did a lot of work to get rid of guys like that.

Let's see if he gets waived, then the Knicks can be players for him. But that trade also takes cap space away from NY next season.

I can see a team like Boston, offering a 1st rd pick (one of the many they have) for him.

@dogmanx23 if he gets waived I don't think NY has to pay anything do they?  It would not be a trade but a signing.

blackwood1

@dogmanx23 boston has 12 PG's lol they dont need him, Lawson has had a few issues yes but on the court he is one of the most underrated PGs out.

Would i do it if they take Calderon & spare parts? Hell yea! He is a offensive weapon on par with anyone. That said I dont see it happening.
