Shaun Marcum volunteered to pitch in relief during last night’s 15-inning loss to the Marlins. He threw 28 pitches in two innings, let up four hits and two runs. He ended up taking the loss as the Marlins rallied early Tuesday morning to take the late-inning win.
He is expected to make his next start on Friday in Atlanta, though he told reporters last night that he will skip his between-starts side session, which was scheduled for today.
“The bullpen was kind of running out there toward the end,” Marcum said, according to ESPN New York. “I told them if they needed me I was available and I’d be more than happy to go down there and give these guys whatever I had.”
