Lucas Duda 14 (Baron)

Lucas Duda has food poisoning, unavailable Saturday

May 9, 11:55 pm: Lucas Duda has food poisoning and is not likely to play Saturday, after also missing Friday night’s game.

He spent Friday afternoon at the hospital getting fluids and treatment.

“As I sit here, he’s not going to play,” Terry Collins said. “You can’t go through what he went through and have any energy.”

May 9, 4:18 pm: Duda will not be in Friday’s starting lineup because he’s at the hospital being treated for a stomach flu, Terry Collins said before the game.

According to Collins, depending on when he gets back and how he feels, Duda could be available to pinch hit later in the game.

“He is very sick. He was up all night, couldn’t keep fluids down,” Collins added.

That's funny, I can't keep food down when I watch the Mets.

Maybe Satin spiked his food?   It's a joke so leave your high and mighty at home where it belongs and chill.

Nice to know Duda has the shits.  Maybe we can trade for the Pirates first baseman.

I don't understand how anyone can look at this offense and tell me it wouldn't look better with Drew & Morales. They are flawed players, I know, but they're viable major leaguers as well.

I'm willing to let the Flores experiment play out a while, but with no depth at either position, I don't see how those two guys weren't worth fair 2-3 year deals. Those don't kill your franchise, strapped for cash or not. Adding both guys would probably put the payroll around 110 mil, which is a totally fair number in this market for a rebuilding team.

Lagares - CF (R)

Murphy - 2B (L)

Wright - 3B (R)

Morales - 1B (S)

Granderson - RF (L)

C. Young - LF (R)

Drew - SS (L)

d'Arnaud - C (R)

Pitcher

What?! A real major league balanced lineup for fair market value?? No way.

Duda may be a great guy but he's no major leaguer.

I don't know if Duda is a good guy, but I find it hard not to root for him.

Pinch hit? Let the guy go home and get some sleep.

@metsblog Perfect timing. Flores is 1B of future anyhow. Duda hopefully becomes trade bait later.

Here's your chance Josh, if not, bring up Campbell.

Must've spent too much time on Metsblog reading about the fans moaning about the team that he developed his own bellyache. Feel better big fella.

I would love to see Duda get 500 at bats in a season to see if he can smack 20 plus homers but we may never see this..i don't have a lot of faith in him.

Why don't we release this guy and get a real 1st baseman or let Wilmer take 1st? I honestly believe Wilmer will be a better hitter than Duda.

If Satin takes an 0-fer, they should seriously consider calling up Campbell. The guy is on fire, looked good in spring training and has played every position besides center field, catcher and pitcher during his minor league career.

I wouldn't expect Metsblog to know this, but there's no such thing as stomach flu -- it's usually some kind of food poisoning or bacteria.

If Duda has a case of the runs make sure he's in the lineup tonight...we could certainly use it.  Maybe the whole team will get it.

Lucas Duda should be nowhere near this team tonight if he really has the flu.

TC is nuts. If Duda is dehydrated to the point of needing IV no doctor in their right mind would clear him to play. Not to mention these things tend to be highly contagious. Send him home and keep him from making everybody else sick! What fools'

When I watch a Met game I find it hard to keep things down too..

All kidding aside, hope he's ok.

I don't think much of the man as a ballplayer but I hope he makes a full recovery.

@tinka Nobody wants him to be sick or even play badly.. this is all on Sandy for not knowing what players are better fits elsewhere.  He's putting Lucus in a bad spot.
