After Friday’s 3-2 loss to the Pirates, Terry Collins told reporters LaTroy Hawkins was unavailable due to a triceps problem in his right arm.
Collins said Hawkins had trouble loosening up early in the game, and it was likely due to the two innings he pitched in Milwaukee last weekend.
Hawkins pitched one inning in the three-game series against the Giants earlier this week.
Hawkins, 40, is 3-1 with a 3.20 ERA in 39 games this season.
Michael Baron, ContributorHawkins is no spring chicken, and he’s gotten a lot of work during the first half. He’s had his ups and downs, but he’s been especially solid since mid-May. The All-Star Break should do him some good, and hopefully this issue with his triceps is minor and isn’t a symptom of something else.
