Juan Lagares takes a swing 1

Lagares on track to return this week

Juan Lagares is making a rehab appearance on Monday for Double-A Binghamton, and could be activated from the disabled list as early as Thursday (Rubin). Lagares will lead off and play center field for the B-Mets.

The 25-year-old outfielder was placed on the DL with a strained right intercostal on June 2nd. It’s his second stint on the DL this season, after he pulled a hamstring in April.

I still can't understand why they played him the weekend before he ended up on the DL. He had been having discomfort, so in typical Met fashion, played him so he get get really hurt and ended up on the DL.  Why do these decisions keep happening?

As much as I'm looking forward to having Lagares back in CF for the Mets can he actually prove he's ready to come back before we start setting arbitrary dates for his return? He hasn't even gotten a hit yet in his rehab games and that's been against single A pitching

Kirk and Lagares should start every single day for the next 2 weeks. This lineup would absolutely rake:

Lagares

Granderson

Murphy

Wright

Duda

Darnaud

Kirk

Flores

The second half of this season should be about getting T'da, Lagares, and Flores as many games as we can give them to see what they can do.

Stay healthy Juan, you are needed!

Good. If he keeps his average up it'll be like adding a new hitter, just what we need.

Do the Astros look like they have anything to trade?  I would kill to get Carlos Correa from them.

Just needs a few more simulated bench seasions until terry is confortable with him riding the bench without getting hurt

Update: Just checked the box score and Lagares went 2-4 with a BB and RBI and 2 R tonight in AA. So perhaps he's starting to round back into shape swinging the bat.

@supert could not agree more.  Just recognize that Lageres has had a couple of injuries and should get a day off every 4th game.  Also TDA needs the same thing.  This manager has no clue how to run a  team.  He runs guys out there every single day.  Its 162 game season.  Wright and Murphy actually need days off as well

@Jordan Moskowitz How about San Diego?  With Omar over there now, we must have a couple of Julio Francos, Luis Castillo's, Oliver Perez's, Jason Bay's that we can send to him for a front line hitter!

Interesting idea. If he could be ready in 2015 could payoff huge. Wonder what it would take to get him. Syndergaard for Correa straight up? I wonder
