Juan Lagares 4 (Baron)

Juan Lagares to DL

1:52 p.m.: Mets OF Juan Lagares has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right intercostal strain, the Mets announced.

Triple-A OF Matt den Dekker was recalled to take his place on the roster.

Lagares traveled to New York on Monday for an MRI.

He left Sunday’s game after his final at bat, after injuring his torso on Friday against the Phillies. He was a late scratch from the lineup on Saturday, but started Sunday.

With regard to this injury, has Lagares lost the trust of TC?

That's a bad injury for a ballplayer.  Every time you swing the bat it feels like someone's stabbed you.

Prognosis of an intercostal strain

With appropriate physiotherapy management, most patients with an intercostal strain can make a full recovery (i.e. return to sport or normal activities) in a period of 4-6 weeks. In more severe cases, recovery may take longer.

Lovely.

Second time this year Juan has been on the Disabled List. His skills in center field will be missed. His offensive game has improved, also.

Sandy preaches about his players in the minors adapting to his hitting approach. If this was true, Why are we seeing players brought up from the minors that cannot hit?

Twice in one season. This is reason for concern. Met minor league OF players have yet to show anything. Anyone excited about the return of den Dekker?

Rest, and prednisone, this type of injury is not bad but very uncomfortable.

Stankees fans like the troll below Joel Langstein who has been posting the same Tanaka article on all the Mets threads for the last three days.

He was s ratted from Saturdays game. Sunday hecwas, apparently, well enough to get a hit in his first at bat and then beat a pick off throw to self d. No discomfort there because he looked fine and played center for another seven innings. Then he hurt himself again.

This could have happened while he was getting a drink in the dugout, or walking back in. These things happen. Injuries hit every team. So we move on and make due forvthe next two weeks. But this wasnt something so egregious that anyone saw it in his play Sunday. He looked just fine to everyone.

Would love to see a Nimmo come up and see what he has to offer...

This is what happens when you rotate the outfield!! These players have to prove themselves to be in this starting roster. Juan is our future center fielder!! He doesn't need to prove anything. Ruben Tejada does!!

I'm a big Lagares fan - people forget how young he is and has a lot to learn in the big leagues - but his glove will be surely missed and he was really making strides at the plate. Get well soon, Juan.

Please let den Dekker play. Chris Young is pure garbage

i think we all pretty much so this coming right?  Just a matter of if he's on the DL for a month or if this is season ending/career threatening.  I mean, we are talking about Ray Ramirez and the Mets here....

"If the kid says he's ok he's ok" yeah because a young center fielder in his first full season who for no reason what so ever loses his job every 3 weeks is going to say how bad he's hurting. And the FO is too busy explaining what the hell hunting strikes means exactly to fire their manager for a laundry list of things that now includes negligence.

I think I rather see MDD patrol CF instead of C.Young.

This sucks!!! Lagares is an important piece to this team, everyday lineup and now he is out for 2 weeks. TC should had never played him yesterday.

Every team has injuries. Hopefully whoever fills in can step it up and produce in his absence. Lagares will be back soon enough. Relax.

That's right, this ain't no 2 week injury. Usually 1-2 months. Sucks!!!

Because Lagares has a strained tummy? Please...

@jonlga agree. If you've ever had a rib injury, you can strain it by any kind of move.  It's like a knife in the ribs. I hope he's back in two weeks because it could be 3-4.

Comments like these is what makes reading these comments so freaking frustrating. Nimmo coming up now? Are you serious?
