Juan Lagares’ knee injury not serious

5:10 pm: Juan Lagares’ knee issue is nothing serious (Puma).

Dec. 5: Lagares tweeted that he is on his way back to New York to have his knee looked at.

Lagares’ tweet was in Spanish, but translates to, “On my way to New York to get my knee checked out. Putting everything in God’s hands.” (h/t @SusiMJK on Twitter)

Lagares followed up with a tweet that reads, “Everything is good my people.”

Lagares has been playing in winter ball for Las Aguilas Cibaenas and is hitting .342 with a .379 OBP in 28 games, with five doubles, a home run, 16 RBI and seven walks.

Lagares hit .242 with a .281 OBP and .633 OPS in 121 games for the Mets in 2013.

I don't know if they should really bother trading for a SS unless it's for a big time upgrade with upside, like Castro. Guys like Alexei Ramirez are okay, but he has a 10 million a year contract. Unless a big upgrade can be found, I'd prefer they just let Tovar have the job for the year and re-evaluate next off season with better free agent short stops potentially available, and maybe a better sense of the futures of Tovar, Tejada, and fringe guys like Muno and Matt Reynolds in the minors.

Should we investigate if Brad Miller is available from Seattle? They have a super-surplus of infielders now.

does anyone else think that maybe picking up Chris Coughlan who was non-tendered  might be a good pick up as an extra outfielder?

How did he hurt it?

shouldn't Lagares put his knees in doctors hands?

does god have an office at the Hospital for Special Surgery?

Probably the best defensive OF in the NL right now. Now they need to get to work on SS and another bat...

Okay, so how do you get your avatar to show up with this new system?

The 5 minute limit to edit one's posts is a lot of pressure.

Instead of a down vote, I'd like to suggest the following.  A button that says,  You suck and so does your post.

Granderson is many things, most of them good.  Comparing him to Jason Bay is nonsense.  If there's one thing Grandy isn't, is openly Bay.

I wasn't worried. Fernando Tatis tweeted that Lagares's knee was fine even before he got hurt.

a key stat to me that they didn't mention is hes got 5 SB with 1 CS in 114 ab.  IF he can hit 280 with 25 sb (with his glove) that would be real nice.

Can we maybe get a statement from the team explaining exactly what the issue was and why it's not a big deal?  Speculating based upon cryptic texts seems ridiculous.

This is a relief. I was hoping this wouldn't be a serious injury.

Relieving to hear. I'm pretty excited for this outfield.

Wow, the joke that this franchise has become continues. Cant wait to here how this guy got hurt now. Maybe the Mets can take another player out to lunch and not sign him. So sick of this franchise and its ineptness.

@rubiconx0 right now they got Brown, den Dekker, Kirk and EY Jr...maybe even Duda.  How many extra OFers do they need?

@mikepiazza3186

I'd trade him. Will not hit for avg or steal bags. Who hitting over .280 on this team anyway?

I like the fact that that's gone. People were getting ridiculous with it. I liked it when it said who actually downvoted you. At least then people couldn't just click and hide from retaliation.

He has an office in Fenway Park.

Have you ever met a surgeon? Every office at the Hospital for Special Surgery has a guy that thinks he's god.

I think he is too. Although unless you bring in a REALLY good ss, give Tejada at least till the all star break.

@Macacawitz Nicely done. Good to see many of the old names, even after the 10 character limit on SNY...

Tatis is 2 for 2 on the breaking news this week! I expect him to be offered a job on metsblog soon.

Saw the tweet.  Fine, would still like a statement from the team.

@CJM 3 center fielders. What other team can boast that!

young Jr  is the only one who can hit, Kirk, Duda and Brown are nothing special and may not even be with the big club on opening day?

Do teams make official statements on things like that?  Not really and not really necessary.

The braves can and I think we match up pretty good with their OF now. J Upton playing CF is a bit of a stretch but they were heralded as the best potential OF in the NL before last year kicked off. Hopefully we make them look bad in'14.

@Macacawitz Yes.  So I know that a statement is in essence garbage.  The last thing anyone needs are more words from the FO.
