Kendrys Morales is expected to reject the Mariners qualifying offer this winter, reports Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.
According to Heyman, the Mariners recently tried to sign Morales to a long-term extension, but he is not interested in signing with Seattle until he tests the market.
This past weekend, Greg Johns of MLB.com said the Mariners would make a qualifying offer to Morales this winter.

Morales is represented by Scott Boras (as is Jacoby Ellsbury, Shin-Soo Choo and Stephen Drew by the way), so it’s not a surprise they’re going to test the market. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see how the qualifying offer affects someone like Morales, who has proven he can hit for power in a pitchers park, but who comes with flaws, one of which is that he’s primarily a designated hitter. These issues could limit his market, and could help to drive his price down as the winter progresses.
