According to this post on MLB Trade Rumors, the Rangers were willing to trade top 3B prospect Mike Olt to get Braves SS Andrelton Simmons, who Texas then planned to trade for D-Backs OF Justin Upton.
Multiple reports this off-season suggest Arizona is seeking a young shortstop, plus pitching, in a deal for Upton.

Last summer, I was told Upton would cost the Mets at least Jon Niese. I see reports linking Tampa to Arizona with names like James Shields and infield prospect Hak-Ju Lee. The Rangers seem unwilling to deal Elvis Andrus or Jurickson Profar, as they should be. If this is the case, if this the range, I’m not sure what the Mets would need to do to compete with these packages, assuming they’re even interested Frankly, at least so far, I have not hear any rumblings that the Mets and D-Backs have talked about Upton, though I do think the two sides have talked outfielders in some capacity. Ruben Tejada and Niese would be way too much. The Mets do have Wilmer Flores, but most experts know his future is not at shortstop, even though he’s played there most of his young career. Plus, he’s not ready, and it seems Arizona is looking for immediate help and more of a sure thing. Right now, I don’t see a match, do you?
