Injury update on Wright, Turner and Nieuwenhuis

Red Cross

David Wright told reporters he is feeling better and Opening Day remains his goal.

Justin Turner, who was originally on the travel list to take on the Houston Astros, will no longer be making the trip, according to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York.

He has been cleared to resume full baseball activity, “except for going on the trip,” Turner said.

Kirk Nieuwenhuis will have some at bats and play in the outfield for three innings in a minor league game, according to Mike Kerwick of The Record.

5:31 pm: Nieuwenhuis went 1-for-5 in a minor league game in Port St. Lucie today.

Nieuwenhuis did not play the field – he served as the designated hitter only.
